a computer expert willing to help out for our undying gratitude, a meal or five, and all the intoxicants we can feed him/her

  • Ivy: I can contribute food and/or booze to the cause.
  • Clynne: I'll get my "unix basics" page up and running.
  • My house if we don't use boneless ranch or/and booze, food, fast wireless Internet.
  • Laura: I cook. I drink. I smoke. I can provide all of that. for the latter part of the meetings.
  • T.J.: The Ranch will be accessible most of the time, we have interbunny access and I am good with hardware.

some surplus computers

  • Ivy: I can get several machines and monitors, I just need to know how many we need. There are at least 4 monitors available; not sure how many machines, probably 5 full machines and some partials. Also can get a router if we need one. --Laura: we'll need one computer per person (I have 1 without a monitor). We've got Ivy + Tawny + Laura + Wendy = 4 computers & 4 moniters. Ivy, can you get 3 computers and a monitor to TJ's on Sunday? Might as well bring the router too -- maybe we can learn network configuration too.
    • Ivy: I am bringing 4 computers + monitors.
  • Clynne:
    • 3-4 Netfinities (5-year-old 1u rack-mountable servers)
      • These fit into my car for transport.
      • I'm not sure what kind of running condition they're in. It'd be more fun for me to fire 'em up and work on 'em with company rather than by myself. Maybe I could bring them over to Boneless and then TJ and I (and whoever else wants to learn how to test hardware to see if it's working) could fire 'em up and see how they are?
    • 1 rolling rack
      • If this is needed, I'll need a truck to transport it.
  • Jim:
    • Unfortunately, I just tossed all my excess hardware about a week before you announced this. But I can get my pickup truck over to Clynne's to pick up all her stuff.
    • IMHO -- the Netfinites in a rack are perfect for servers to learn with -- it simulates the standard "a server sitting in some room someplace else" that you should be using for most of the types of things we're talking about. People will need some sort of computer to use to get to them (a laptop or something).

  • The Boneless Ranch is open during all business hours.
